Forget Picture Perfect is a teen cal ss (ages 14-17) at the Brooklyn Museum taught by Kameelah Janan Rasheed.

Class Description: What’s beautiful? Who gets to decide? What if you don’t agree? Inspired by the artist Mickalene Thomas’s use of busy patterns and glitzy rhinestones, and her questioning of art-historical traditions, this digital photo course will explore artworks that challenge assumptions of what art can (or should) be. Students will combine photography, photo manipulation, collage, and other techniques to create artwork that begins with photography but doesn’t end there.
